Console tables

The console is a small, narrow table, often put under a mirror on the wall or between the windows. In seventeenth century Italy, this was one of the key elements of the interior. Consoles of that time, due to its decorative appearance - carvings and gilding, were more like individual piece of art than furniture.Later consoles became widespread in France of Louis XIV.Though here they significantly changed - becoming much smaller, not so richly decorated, and the legs are often connected with decorative lattice. In our days, the console is considered an additional piece of furniture of the interior.Ancient console is very popular for filling large interior spaces, as well as highly decorative when standing in living room, and one with a mirror - performs cosmetic table function.
